How to Dress Baby for Holiday Parties

How to Dress Baby for Holiday Parties

When I found out I was having a girl the first time I was thrilled at the thought of all the pretty little dresses and outfits.  I dreamed about changing her outfit a thousand times a day just for the fun of it.  Reality of course was that while I did change her outfit what seemed like a thousand times a day, it was usually because of leaky diapers or food splatter.  Still dressing up my two girls is a lot of fun and there is nothing I love more than getting them into pretty little dresses for family events.

During the holiday season, social calendars fill up fast. Between visiting and welcoming relatives, school and work events and the occasional juice and cheese, the holidays are a time when your hungry caterpillars are transformed into little social butterflies. It’s important, therefore, that they look the part! Disney Baby has put together some great tips for dressing your little ones this holiday season, so they’re ready to hit the party scene in style!

Tip #1: Choose cool colours

Just because winter can be grey and dull, doesn’t mean you child’s clothing has to be! The holidays are the perfect time to push the colour envelope. Try a festive combination like red and green or choose a cheery bodysuit to brighten the occasion.

Tip #2: Rock a ruffle

For the little ladies in your life, the holidays are a great time to add some extra pizzazz. Have fun with your baby’s outfit, by letting her rock a little ruffle. Disney Baby has some adorable skirted creepers that are perfect for any festive occasion – this one even has some cheetah print for a little seasonal sass!

Tip #3: Comfort is key

Parties are exciting and all that fun can quickly tucker a wee one out. A tight or itchy outfit will seem even more so if your baby is feeling cranky. Make sure you choose fabrics that feel nice and have a bit of stretch to them, so that your little one can enjoy the occasion in comfort and style.

Tip #4: Play with patterns

Elevate your baby’s ensemble by adding some visual interest. Mixing florals and plaid or stripes and polka dots will instantly give your little one’s outfit some festive flair. Silly socks are another great way to add a playful pop.

Tip #5: Select seasonal sleepers

If you know your little one won’t make it through the party, bring a jolly jumpsuit so they can slumber in style. This velour sleeper is a cozy choice, which will make your baby look as Christmassy as a candy cane.

No matter what outfit you opt for, it’s always a good idea to bring a back up. Accidents happen, and it helps to be prepared for a quick wardrobe change!

  1. That’s a pretty red checkered dress your girl is wearing!

I’ve scored some great festive stuff over the last few months, the kinda stuff that I can use for other occasions as well. Red suits my girl well too, so that’s easy to come by. And I love stripes, especially for socks and tights.

I keep it simple. As long as baby girl is comfy, mom is happy 🙂

  2. Tips #2 and #3 are spot on, gotta rock the ruffles, but make sure baby is comfortable, I dressed up my first daughter in tights etc everyday and now I look back and think OMG she must have been so uncomfortable lol

  3. I just gave birth to a beautiful little girl and I am so excited to dress her up. Thank you for the chance to win and for all the great tips. Also, My fave holiday movie is: Home Alone, twitter fan@plumerea

  4. great to dress them up in holiday clothes, but they must remain practical and comfortable for them in my books. no head bands or itchy material for her.

  5. My favourite Christmas movie is A Christmas Story we watch it every year!! my newest granddaughter is all decked out in anything to do with Winnie the Pooh, so this would be a great gift to win!!

  6. My favourite Christmas movie is Christmas Vacation. We watch it every Christmas Eve after touring our town looking at lights and listening to Christmas music.

  7. I JUST GOT A cute outfit for my 10 month old, its blue dress pants with a long sleeve checkered shirt with a built in bow tie and suspenders. its tooo cute

  8. I do have a favorite. It was a cream color dress, looked lacy but was more I wanna say fluffy. My daughter looked like a doll when she was wearing that dress.

  9. I can begin to understand why you are addicted to your tablet. The bond you formed with it while nursing your baby(and also bonding with her) would probably be enough for me to be captivated by it.
The fact that an app makes your cooking and baking would be such a bonus. I spend lots of time rummaging for that favorite recipe I just have to make.
I haven’t finished reading all your reasons for loving your tablet. I probably will, though.
My middle daughter received a tablet for Christmas and I will watch for signs of addiction.

  10. I looked at your best crafts of 2014. They are all very beautiful in their own distinctive way. I love the Thanksgiving place mats for their simplicity and appropriateness for this Thanksgiving Holiday
