Winner of the 2012 Humanitas Prize in Children’s Animation, the Pound Puppies series is currently airing on The Hub in the U.S. and YTV in Canada and stars the voices of Eric McCormack, Yvette Nicole Brown, Michael Rapaport, John DiMaggio, Alanna Ubach, René Auberjonois, and M. Emmet Walsh.

We’ve never watched Pound Puppies before, although I did have a Pound Puppy stuffed toy as a child.  Keira loves animals, especially puppies and loves to woof when she sees them so this DVD went over really well.  (Her woof sounds more like “Boof boof”, but it’s adorable.)   I’m happy to have her watch it on regular TV now that I have seen it myself – the series is funny and sweet with really quite touching story-lines.  The flavour of the holiday season is alive in this DVD and would make for a great gift for the child in your life, whether they currently watch the series or are future little fans!
