Artisan Gifts from World Vision #FMEGifts

The holidays bring out the giving side in all of us, and if you are looking for a great way to give back this season there is no better option than the World Vision Gift Catalogue.  Artisan gifts through World Vision are truly gifts with twice the giving power, and what could be more meaningful than that?  With the mission of helping parents around the world build brighter futures for their children, World Vision artisan gifts offers you the opportunity to give a gift to a loved one while helping to provide struggling families with a sustainable income.

I started to sponsor a little girl in Mozambique through World Vision a few years ago as a way for me to give back year long.  I know that World Vision works hard to make a difference in communities world-wide and they are always at the top of my list when it comes to charities.  I was so pleased that World Vision agreed to send me a Beautiful Embroidered Scarf and Fair Trade Coffee from the Artisan Gift section of the World Vision Gift Catalogue to review.

The embroidered scarf is just gorgeous and handmade with real silk by women in Thailand.  A card included with the scarf noted that the scarf was created in Udon Thani, one of the poorest regions in all of Thailand.   The embroidery itself is skillfully done, and incredibly detailed.  You can see the love that was put into making this scarf by a woman trying to earn enough income so provide a better life for her children.  This scarf has helped her put a roof over her childrens heads, provide them with food, proper health-care and even education.   The scarf retails for $85, and the proceeds help provide training, loans and materials to artisans around the world so they can start their own businesses and achieve self-reliance.  You can even get a tax receipt for the proceeds.

The fair trade coffee is a medium roast, Organic Peruvian and Bolivian blend and it is delivered in a gift bag of African fabric hand-sewn by local women. It also includes a beautifully hand-carved olivewood scoop.  Since I’m pregnant I’ve held back on trying the coffee but I can tell you it is just so aromatic!  I can’t wait to brew a nice hot cup of this blend!  This set retails for $65, and of that $40 is eligible for a tax receipt.

If you would like to give a gift through World Vision this year that will deeply impact someone’s life look through the Gift catalogue for the other artisan gifts that are available, such as a Haitian Hand-beaded Necklace which helps struggling families in Haiti.

Feeling like giving back even more?  You can sponsor a child for only $39 a month or even just make a one time donation through gifts that empower and help others survive.  For example, you could donate $30 to buy 5 fruit trees for a family so they will have plenty to eat and with enough left over to sell.  There are plenty of gifts available to choose from that will help those truly in need at a variety of different price points.

I love the scarf, it is beautiful. I also love companies that give back and I try to buy from them as much as possible. Sometimes they are a little more expensive but well worth it. I do not shop at Walmarts. As cheap as their prices are, they are owned by the even cheaper greedy Koch brothers. And they won't get my business. I buy from the little people.

Love the scarf! I had no idea that World Vision had artisan gifts. I have purchased their donation gifts before and they are so thoughtful. I love gifts that give back!
