These days most shoppers are like myself – why go from lot to lot dealing with used car salesmen when you can shop online, without all that hassle, from the comfort of your home? When shopping online for a used car you do need to use common cents and use due dilligence to investigate a car and offer before handing over your hard earned money.Insurance Hunter has written a great article offering much needed tips for just this situation titled Looking to buy a used car? Use common sense when shopping online. The first tip they offer up is probably the most important, and while it should be common sense obviously it is worth repeating. “Shop online, but buy in person”.
When I was shopping for my car I took my time surfing around for my “dream” car. Finally, I found THE ONE! It was beautiful, the price was right… it was everything I wanted in a car. So I asked my dad to go take a look at the car and off we went.
I saw her sitting there in the lot glowing – ok so the glowing part was probably just in my imagination… but nonetheless… there she was. We took her out for a spin and it was great. Everything was perfect, I couldn’t have been happier. I was ready to commit at that point… until we took a closer look. The passenger seat belt was carefully duct taped in place. The interior of the ceiling was stapled in place. The closer we looked the more flaws we saw.
Imagine I had just taken the photos and description as gospel?
