Brain Tumour Awareness

Today I have a guest post by Shannon from Shannon’s View From Here sharing an important message for us all about Brain Tumour Awareness.

Ask anyone what the Pink ribbon is for and they will give you an instant answer, so I wanted to share with you about another ribbon.  A ribbon that is very near and dear to my…. brain.  It is the grey ribbon.

October is Brain Tumour Awareness Month #BTAM2012 in Canada.  The Brain Tumour Foundation Of Canadas website is full of wonderful information.

Did you know that each day 27 Canadians are diagnosed with a brain tumour?  You can read about how I became a part of that statistic on September 13, 2009 HERE

Did you know that there is no known cause for brain tumours?

Did you know that there are over 120 different kinds of brain tumours?

Did you know that childhood brain tumours are not the same as those in adults and must often be treated differently.  Around 60% of children diagnosed with brain tumours survive but are often left with long-term side effects.

Did you know that you can find out more brain tumour facts HERE

Here is a list of signs and symptoms of brain tumours from the Brain Tumour Foundation of Canada website:

Please contact your physician if you experience any of the above symptoms.

Each day in October there is a new story of strength on Brain Tumour Foundation of Canadas website.  Please help to spread the word this month by sharing one of these social media messages.

Thank you to all my blogger friends that shared the meassage with me!
