I love Glitter, it’s just so pretty and using loose glitter is a simple way to liven up a colour you may not like “as-is”.
In my Julep Maven box* this month came some surprise Candy Corn and Loose Glitter along with my polish.
I was pretty excited to play with the glitter as I had never used loose glitter before, just the pre-fab glittery polishes.
To create the look from the picture above I used the Keira colour which is a deep burgundy creme for the base.
After the third coat dried I poured a little of the glitter onto a piece of folded paper. After experimenting with various techniques I found this worked best to help avoid creating glitter heavy areas as it gives you better control.
Next I put a thin layer of polish on the beds of my nails. Then I tapped the glitter over my nails slowly until the freshly painted area was covered in the way I wanted.
At this point it is easiest to just run you hand(s) under cold water to get excess glitter off.
The last step is critical. Apply a clear top coat! Unless of course you prefer to find glitter all over the place.
For my toes, I used the Eloise Julep colour with the black glitter and did the same process as above except with the tips of my nails.
You could also use hole protectors to create a glittery French manicure.
