My other half is Jamaican, and hasn’t actually been in Canada very long.
Friends of his fathers are seasonal migrant workers on a farm about 2 hours away from here so ever since we started dating we would take the drive out to see them. This is the second year I didn’t go with him; last year I was bed ridden with horrible morning sickness every minute I wasn’t at work. I also didn’t think a hot trailer after a 2 hour hot car drive would be a good place for our little one this year.
So two years in a row I missed out on a lot of gossip (men really are just as bad or worse than women), dominoes and Jamaican cooking.
I was really excited when I got home from my parents Saturday night to find garbage bags full of freshly picked produce. Onions, Hot Peppers, Sweet peppers, Bell peppers, tomatoes and more. Yum! Did I mention that on every trip they send us home with a car full of yummy stuff?
You just got to love living in Canada, and especially Ontario – so much amazing produce gets grown here!
So what can you make involving the above veggies? Salsa!
After one very long day I now have a years worth of Salsa put down and burning hands from hot peppers leaking through the makeshift plastic baggy gloves I used. Ouch.
