Route 66, USA

Route 66 in America is one of the most famous road trip routes in the entire world. If you want to see all the authenticity of the United States, this is a fantastic place to do it. From pop culture to arts, mountains and prairies, open, rural life to crowded city life, this route has it all. Route 66 was established in 1926, and runs from Chicago, Missouri, Kansas, Oklahoma, down and across to Texas, then to New Mexico and Arizona, and ends in California. It covers a total of 2,448 miles.

 

 

The Overseas Highway, The Florida Keys, USA

In the US, you can drive over the sea on the Overseas Highway! You can literally drive over the sea in the Florida Keys. Here you will travel with a view of the beautiful Atlantic on your east side and the Gulf of Mexico on your west. This 160 mile route runs between Miami and Key West, and at one point you will drive over more than seven miles of water on what is known as the Seven Mile Bridge. If the thought of gliding over the water isn’t enough for you, imagine hitting tiny islands with amazing seafood shacks ready to sell you the fresh catch of the day, and then rolling into tiny islets populated mostly by deer. The scenery is breathtaking and not something you will find anywhere else.

 

 

Sea to Sky Highway, BC, Canada

Taking a road trip like no other in Canada needs to be on your list of things to do. Highway 99 in British Columbia, Canada is known as the Sea to Sky Highway, and runs through Vancouver, Coast, and Mountains, which will give you not only a variety of topography to see, but different climates to experience, too. This route is 254 miles, and includes a coastal rain forest, alpine lakes, whitecaps of towering mountain ranges, old logging camps, small, but unique towns, and the ski slopes.

 

South Island, New Zealand

New Zealand has some of the most breathtaking, majestic, and show-stopping views you will see anywhere, which is one reason it is so popular for movies. For example, the Lord of the Rings trilogy was shot there, and the scenery held true to what New Zealand has to offer visitors. The Trail of King Arthur, Wales, UK

As you make your way through it, you will follow King Arthur’s legend, see grand castles, take in beautiful scenery, and hear tales of Arthur, his knights, and the magician, Merlin. One stop along the way is the village of Monmouth, the home to the 12th-Century monk who wrote the book that brought life to the Arthur legend. You will also see Wye Valley and the Chepstow Castle, where Arthur and his knights are said to be sleeping, and visit Craig-y-Ddinas, an extensive system of caves where people have claimed to encounter Arthur’s ghost. Classic Welsh scenery of foggy moors, peaks on craggy mountains, and green, lush grass is everywhere.
