True North Sports Camp arrives in Hamilton! #HamONT

Summer is under way and that means my 5 year old daughter, Keira, is done with school for summer break. Keeping a 5 year old and a 3 year old entertained and out of trouble can be challenging at best, but nearly impossible when you are also trying to work from home.

Thankfully we were given the opportunity for Keira to check out a new-to Hamilton summer day camp – True North Sports Camp.

After offering summer camps in Toronto for 11 years,  they have expanded to Hamilton this summer with  Baseball Camp (ages 4 – 14) as well as Multi-Sport Camp (ages 4 – 14) and Flag Football Camp (ages 7 – 14)! Operating out of Alexander Park in the west end of the city, it is a great choice for parents who want to keep their kids active during the summer break. True North sports camp is unique in that they offer high quality sports instruction in a fun and pressure-free environment for boys and girls of all skill levels to learn something new, while making friends and staying active.

Keira has been attending the Multi-Sport camp daily for a little over a week now and comes home each and every day excited to tell us about all her new skills and friends. She is also ready for a good nights sleep after such an active day! Her days at camp run from 9 am to 3:30 pm and they are filled with skill development, games and more. There is also extended care available for parents who cannot make it for normal pick-up.

On the one day it was threatening to rain they all headed indoors to stay dry. It is nice to know that they do have that option on not-so-nice days.

Since her little sister Ava is too young to attend this year, Keira has been busy teaching Ava everything she has learned during the past week. She is especially proud of her ability to stop a soccer ball with her foot. It is wonderful to see her so confident, active, and having so much fun!

A huge part of what makes True North Sports Camp so great is the wonderful, enthusiastic staff. You can tell they are excited to be there and love working with the kids to help them develop new athletic skills. They really do make sure each child feels welcome and ready to have fun too. When Keira was nervous and obviously unsure of herself on the first day, a staff member took her by hand and showed her where she could leave her bag and got her settled in with the other kids.

I would definitely recommend True North Sports Camp to any parent who wants to get their kids more active, or who are looking for an amazing day camp during the summer months. We are already planning to send both girls for a couple weeks next summer based on how much Keira has been enjoying herself and learning this summer!
