Every morning is a good morning with this Homemade Invigorating Men’s Shaving Soap! The bright citrus scent is the perfect way to start the day, and it makes for a great Father’s day or Christmas gift for any man in your life.

Try using it in a simple men’s shaving gift basket by pairing it with a shaving brush and razor with a hand towel.

Bentonite clay helps the razor glide smoothly over the skin to help prevent nicks and cuts. Jojoba oil works to nourish the skin while the essential oil blend provides many benefits including an invigorating effect, antiseptic properties, a fantastic scent and more. You will need a shaving brush to use the soap.

Homemade Invigorating Men’s Shaving Soap

Yields one 8oz soap-filled coffee mug

Ingredients:

1/2 lb Honey scented glycerin melt-and-pour suspension soap
1/2 tsp Jojoba Oil
1 tsp Sodium Bentonite Clay
1/8 tsp Rosemary essential oil
1/2 tsp Lemongrass essential oil
1/2 tsp Sweet Orange essential oil

(I used this starter set of essential oils for the lemongrass and sweet orange)

Materials:

8 oz Coffee Mug, washed and dried
4-cup Glass measuring cup
Plastic wrap
Chef Knife
Measuring Spoons
Rubber spatula
Spray bottle filled with rubbing alcohol

Directions:

Cut the soap into 1-inch cubes and place into a 4-cup Glass measuring cup and cover with plastic wrap.

Heat the soap in your microwave for 45 seconds.

Stir the soap then heat again in 30 second increments until melted and smooth.

Stir in the Jojoba oil and sodium bentonite clay until completely incorporated.

Stir in the essential oils.

Pour the soap into the coffee mug.

Lightly spray the soap with rubbing alcohol to eliminate any bubbles.

Allow soap to completely solidify and cool down, about 1 hour, before removing from the moulds.

Allow the soap to completely cool and fully harden.

Where did you find the mug and shave brush pictured? I have looked everywhere for a similar mug with no luck or they're very expensive. TIA!

Amazon for the shave brush, it was fairly inexpensive. The mug I already owned, it was my parents from the 1970s, so maybe a second hand store might have similar?

How would this be used? Does the brush need to be wet and then rubbed against the surface of the soap to lather? I've never made soap before so sorry if I sound lost.

Yes, you wet the brush and swirl it around on the surface of the soap to lather.
