Ditch the Itchy Winter Skin with AVEENO Baby Eczema Care

eczema

When my youngest, Ava, was born, she had very sensitive skin and it wasn’t long before we were dealing with dry, red and itchy patches over her cheeks and chin. After a doctors visit we found out that she had  infant eczema.

Eczema is actually a common skin condition that affects close to a fifth of all Canadians, including children. In fact I suffer from mild flare-ups myself on my face during cooler weather.

There is no cure for eczema, but you can keep affected skin smooth and protected with daily treatment and care.

Aveeno Baby

We generally use AVEENO Baby Wash & Shampoo on the girls as its soap-free, hypo-allergenic and gentle enough that we can bathe Ava’s sensitive skin daily without causing dryness or irritation. We usually finish up our bedtime routine with AVEENO Baby Daily Lotion to help moisturise and protect their skin.

When winter weather hits the wind, the cool air and the dry inside heat combine for dryer skin needing a little extra care. This is where AVEENO’s Baby Eczema Care line comes in, even if your little one does not suffer from eczema.

Bearing the Eczema Society of Canada Seal of Acceptance, AVEENO’s Baby Eczema Care Body Wash and Eczema Care Moisturising Cream are free of irritants and are specially formulated with colloidal oatmeal to help strengthen the skin’s moisture barrier, and to relieve the itch and irritation of eczema. These products are so thick and moisturising, they are impressively effective at keeping winter dry skin at bay.

AVEENO’s Baby Eczema Care line

New to the AVEENO Baby Eczema Care line is the Eczema Care Nighttime Balm. It  is formulated with a 2.5x more glycerin than the Eczema Care Moisturising Cream to help intensely moisturise your baby’s eczema prone skin through the night.

The AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy Nighttime Balm is credited as the “first and only nighttime balm specifically formulated with Active Naturals Colloidal Oatmeal and ceramides for immediate and long-lasting itch relief.” It has even been cinically proven to help soothe and prevent recurrence of dry, itchy skin when applied at bedtime.

The balm itself is thick and rich feeling. I’ve been using the adult version (AVEENO Eczema Care Itch Relief Balm) on my most recent flare up, and you can feel it going to work right away. It does sting a bit going on, but I find that is true of anything I treat my eczema with. What impressed me the most is how much of a difference this balm makes in relieving my symptoms. I can also see the difference in the morning compared to when I would simply slather on regular moisturising cream at bedtime.

Using the AVEENO Baby Eczema Therapy Nighttime Balm on Ava seems to have a similar affect too.  I have been regularly using it on Ava as a spot treatment on dry patches along with regular use of the AVEENO Baby Eczema Care Body Wash and Eczema Care Moisturising Cream with great results.

Eczema can be so hard to deal with. Glad you found a product that would help her if you used it now.

I love using Aveeno products. They are the only moisturizer I use. I wish this was around when my son was young. He suffered from mild eczema as a baby.

I was just talking to someone about this! My daughter has eczema and I've noticed that some of the creams will sting her and Aveeno doesn't seem to. I love Aveeno for that reason. I don't want her to hate lotion time.

I love Aveeno products and need to pick some up. I do get dry, itchy skin and so does my son in the winter.
