All you need is this one tip to save huge on Diapers

Everyone knows that babies are expensive. I can’t even tell you how many times I was told the same thing during my first pregnancy. It was something I took as an unavoidable fact of life.

I discovered after becoming a mom for the first time though, that it only has to be expensive if you do not plan well or if you choose to make it expensive.

Last week I shared some great tips for budgeting for a new baby and one of the tips involved diapering. I briefly mentioned one way to save but it definitely deserves more than just a passing comment in a larger article. I mean this one tip could save you hundreds of dollars on diapering costs.

Just think about it, most experts will tell you that a baby will go through between 2,500 – 3,000 diapers in their first year and the average person will spend $1500 doing so. Want to know how to cut that cost down to about 1/3 of the average cost?

All you need is this one tip to save huge on Diapers... because a new baby shouldn't cost you a fortune.

What is this tip that will help you save huge on diapers?

Stock up on diapers in bulk using a subscription service.

Seriously. It is that simple.

You know you are going to need diapers for at least a couple years to come so why buy only what you need? Buying smaller diaper packages will cost you more in the long run, and may leave you in the position of needing to spend more on diapers in an emergency than if you had simply planned ahead. You already save more per diaper by buying larger diaper boxes but you can still save more!

This is where a subscription service comes into play. Many online retailers offer subscription diaper services where you can subscribe to receive diapers from national brands like Pampers at a discounted rate.

I tried out a couple subscription services for ordering Pampers diapers for my 2 year old before finding one that brought down the total cost per diaper down to just $0.17 per diaper. Subscription services allow you change the subscription period so if you do not need a monthly delivery then you can set it to every 2 months, or 3 months etc.. This is great once you start potty training and need less diapers.

Diaper subscription services also make for a great baby shower gift idea. It ensures the new mom is always stocked up and not under the financial burden of diapering. She will love you for it! It’s a really great gift to go in on with a couple other people to bring down the total cost. So the next time you are invited to a shower get her a diaper subscription service for Pampers diapers – we loved Pampers Swaddlers when our babies were new!

If you want to track down which retailers are offering a diaper subscription service, simply go to your favourite search engine and type in any of the following key phrases:

• Swaddlers diaper subscription
• Pampers diaper subscription
• Overnight diaper subscription
• Pampers + Subscription

I do see the possibility of problems for some when using a subscription 1) storage problem, which I would definitely have in my apartment and secondly it is more expensive at that moment and people on a budget just can't afford it. I found that cloth diapering for my 7 was more work but definitely cheaper in the long run. The tips for coupons were great everyone can use those.

When my son was little I played the drugstore rewards game. That helped me to stockpile 6 months of diapers for under $100!
