A Magical Pull-Ups® #PottyPartnership Launch Party in Disneyland with Celebrity Mom Jaime King

My youngest child, Ava, and I had the most amazing opportunity to attend the Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership Launch Party in Disneyland, California along with four other incredibly talented Canadian bloggers and their potty-training children. It was a rare chance to meet with both renowned child psychologist and potty-training expert, Dr. Heather Wittenberg, and celebrity mom, Jaime King.

It’s an incredible thing when a group of mother’s and their children can get together, have fun, learn and discuss a topic like potty training in a truly supportive way. I feel like that sums up the party itself but also the Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership as a whole. The The Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership was created in collaboration with Dr. Heather Wittenberg as a whole new way to potty train based on your child’s unique personality, schedule and how they learn best. Like most parents, I really want to be able to support Ava on this huge change in her life, continue to encourage her while she potty trains and the Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership will help us achieve just that.

I took the potty personality quiz for Ava and discovered she is  a puppy – puppies are ready and willing to potty train. They tend to be regular in their habits, so they just need to learn the routine. They are extremely motivated by treats.  You can take the potty personality quiz and discover your own child’s potty personality!

The Pull-Ups® Potty Partnership Launch Party featured five super fun stations targeted towards each of the five potty personalities. The kids were invited to go from station to station, exploring different activities in order to get a sticker for their potty training “passport”. Each station also had a poster with tips and information about the individual potty personalities for parents to take in. The same information can be found on the Potty Partnership website so be sure to check that out for more information.

Ava had a blast at all the different activity stations – the ball “pit” seemed to be a general favourite.

Colouring is always a favourite activity.

… and one she kept going back to.

Decorating her own turtle shell was a blast too, and she has been having as much fun at home wearing it around the house for a little imaginative play.

The Bear Cub theatre was great too. She loved the puppets and even had a chance to get behind the “stage” herself.

Once she completed all five stations and had collected all her stickers she was able to head over to the Big Kid Zone and claim her prize.

Ava was thrilled to be able to meat some of her favourite Disney Characters at the event too including Sophia from Sophia the First.

She was so excited about meeting Mickey Mouse and Minnie all my photos were blurry. She just couldn’t believe it, it was truly a magical moment for her.  She loved meeting Donald too!

After the event we were given the opportunity to sit down with celebrity mom, Jaime King for an intimate media scrum.

Jaime was very candid about her own issues with infertility which is something so many women suffer through, what a great reminder that we all struggle in some way and need a little support and empathy from time to time.

I was really impressed with how genuinely passionate Jaime was while talking about the importance of women supporting women instead of pulling one another down. A lot of what she said could easily have came out of my own mouth and I thought that was interesting considering we come from two vastly different worlds.  We as women can often get extremely competitive, and when it comes to motherhood we often lose sight of what matters most – raising happy healthy children.

Jaime also spoke about the fact that different children are ready at different times, and comparing our children and worrying that they are delayed is not helpful.  There just is no cut and dry cookie cutter approach to potty training which is what makes the Potty Partnership so incredibly helpful to parents.

As a mother of two I’ve seen two different potty personalities from my girls. I also have a close-knit group of friends all with children the same age as my eldest daughter. Some of my friends children still wear pull-ups at night and some do not. Both ends of the potty-training spectrum at 4 years old is completely normal.

This looks like it was a great event. I like Pull Ups for potty training. They have fun designs and they make the kids feel more grown up.

How fun is this? My son would have loved to meet all those characters. We went through a lot of pullups when we started potty training! They are key!

I bet that was so much fun! I would have loved to go there if my girls were still in the potty training process. What a wonderful event!

Although my kids are older, I still remember all too well how tough potty training can be. Taking the message and turning it into a celebration is a fantastic idea!
