Disney Pixar’s Inside Out Blu-ray Combo Pack

Inside Out Blu-ray Combo Pack

Do you ever look at someone and wonder what’s going on inside their head? Disney-Pixar’s “Inside Out” takes an exciting and hilarious journey into the mind to find the answer. Based in Headquarters, the control center of 11-year-old Riley’s mind, five emotions are hard at work, led by lighthearted optimist Joy. She strives to make sure Riley stays happy as she operates alongside fellow emotions Fear, Anger, Disgust and Sadness. It’s “an instant classic,” raves Richard Roeper, Chicago Sun-Times. Experience it like never before on Disney Blu-ray!

Inside Out

Joy

Joy’s goal has always been to make sure Riley stays happy. She is lighthearted, optimistic and determined to find the fun in every situation. Joy sees challenges in Riley’s life as opportunities, and the less happy moments as hiccups on the way back to something great. As long as Riley is happy, so is Joy.

Fear

Fear’s main job is to protect Riley and keep her safe. He is constantly on the lookout for potential disasters, and spends time evaluating the possible dangers, pitfalls and risk involved in Riley’s everyday activities. There are very few activities and events that Fear does not find to be dangerous and possibly fatal.

Disgust

Disgust is highly opinionated, extremely honest and prevents Riley from getting poisoned – both physically and socially. She keeps a careful eye on the people, places and things that Riley comes into contact with – whether that’s broccoli or last year’s fashion trend. Disgust always has the best of intentions and refuses to lower her standards.

Sadness

None of the other Emotions really understand what Sadness’s role is. Sadness would love to be more optimistic and helpful in keeping Riley happy, but she finds it so hard to be positive. Sometimes it seems like the best thing to do is just lie on the floor and have a good cry.

Anger

Anger feels very passionately about making sure things are fair for Riley. He has a fiery spirit and tends to explode (literally) when things don’t go as planned. He is quick to overreact and has little patience for life’s imperfections.

What an incredible film from Pixar!  Inside out beautifully personifies the inner workings of our emotions and how they drive our mind in a way that will engage adults.  Yet it is also filled with vibrant and colourful imagery that is sure to capture the interest of younger audiences.

I watched it the first time with my girls, who are both pre-school aged.  My 2 year old came running at me crying “scary!” a couple times – she wasn’t scared, she just thinks its funny to pretend to be.  My almost 4 year old was practically glued to the screen.  It’s definitely a movie that kids will love and enjoy.  There is humour and relatable behaviour from Riley that kids just get, even the youngest ones!

What is interesting though is just how geared towards adults this film is.  The underlying story is complicated with complex metaphors that will almost surely go over most children’s heads but appeal to older audiences.  My husband is not the kind of guy who willingly sits down and watches children’s movies but he happened to come downstairs tonight as I was about to watch the film over again without the distraction of the kids.  He sat through the entire movie – even past his usual bedtime.  What is more is that he talked about the movie, and was engaged and actually vested in the characters. It was interesting to me that it appealed to him so much.

I also found that the movie was hilarious as it is touching.  The dialogue is witty, there are some particularly clever scenes and the characters are perfect caricatures of themselves but there are also scenes that tug at your emotions in a raw, honest way.

This is a great choice for family movie night, (for once) I have nothing bad to say about it.  It certainly lives up to all the hype.

I missed Inside Out when it was shown in the big screen. Boo. So I think this is a good deal. I should get one. I heard that it was such a good movie and there were a lot of great reviews about Inside Out.
