DIRECTIONS

Turkey:

1-Flatten (as best as you can) three plastic shopping bags and stack them on top of each other. Roll them into a ball. Begin by grabbing the corners and folding them to the centre, continue and squeeze tightly into a ball. Removing the air as you squeeze. Use masking tape to make the ball stay together and remain solid.

2-Wrap your plastic ball with brown yarn. Switch directions repeatedly and cover the entire ball. Trim end and tuck into ball.

3-To insert feathers, make sure you position your ball to follow the image shown. If your yarn is going up and down, you’ll have to hot glue your feathers onto the ball, otherwise you can tuck them into the yarn as shown. Set aside.

4-Cut 2 small triangles out of yellow felt to make a beak. Cut one “gobbler” out of red felt for the face. Using hot glue, glue them onto your 2″ brown pompom. Set aside.

5-To make Legs, fold one yellow pipe cleaner in half and twist it about 1/3 of the way down. Create a three prong “foot” with the remaining loop. Twist each prong to hold the foot together. Set aside.

6-Attach the head to the body, with hot glue.

7-Attach the legs by sliding them into the yarn, hot glue if desired.

8-Slide a loop of fishing line into the top of the turkey, use this to attach it to your twine for your garland.

Pumpkin:

1-Cut two 12″ pieces of orange yarn and set aside.

2-Using your orange yarn, wrap it around your four fingers 150 times.

3-Slide a cut piece of yarn between your fingers and the loops. Remove the yarn from your hand and tie it tightly together. Double knot it.

4-Flip over your pumpkin and tie it on the other side, pulling tightly. Tuck the ends in to create a pumpkin!

5-Attach the green pipe cleaner stem by placing it on the centre of the pumpkin and tying it tightly with the tail. Trim the tail or use to hang.

6-Roll the pipe cleaner down and around to create a stem. Attach fishing line if desired to hang.

I tie my turkeys and pumpkins first and slide them onto the garland before hanging so that I can position them to my liking.

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!
