Top 3 Most Strategic Ways To Organize Your Kids’ Toys

 Are your kids’ toys a mess right now? Walking into your kids’ toy room and seeing toys strewn across the floor can cause any parent to feel stressed out, which is why it’s important to get your kids’ toys organized. These tips will help you get started on your journey to conquering the toy mess in your home.

Get Rid of Broken Toys

If you have kids, you know that they can be hard on toys. Invariably, toys get broken or pieces to games get lost. Once this happens, these toys become clutter in your kids’ toy room, making it harder than ever to keep your kids’ toys organized. If you’re serious about getting your kids’ toys organized, the first step is to go through the toy room and throw away all of the broken toys and games with missing pieces. This will greatly reduce the clutter, allowing you to start organizing.

Donate Unused Toys

Another great way to organize your kids’ toys is to donate unused toys. Even after getting rid of broken toys, chances are your kids still have way too many toys. If this is the case, you can donate the least used toys to a charity or women’s centre. This serves a dual purpose since not only will your toy room have less clutter, but you’ll also be helping a family in need get toys for their kids.  You could also get your kids in on this project to teach them about helping others and the value of generosity.   You could easily turn this into a great parenting moment!

Invest in Storage Bins

Once you’ve gotten rid of those broken and unused toys, it’s time to start organizing. To do this, you’ll need a specific place for each toy. Storage bins are great for this since you can use them to keep sets together. Once you’ve organized the toys in the storage bins, you can help keep things even more organized by adding labels. If you have younger kids, you can use pictures on the labels so that your kids can help put things back where they belong. If your kids are older, then use words on the labels to accomplish the same goal.

Ikea has a lot of great options that I like for toy storage.  Personally I have the Kallax Shelving unit (in a gorgeous glossy Turquoise) standing upright filled with their Drona Boxes.  I like that I can put my 3 year olds toys in the top section and then toys safe for my 1 year old in the bottom section.  It holds an unbelievable amount of toys and makes it easy for them to get a box out to play with and just as easy to get it all away when playtime is over.  Another great Ikea option is the Trofast system which seems quite sturdy and popular among many of my friends.
