Lindsay Burck Designs: Personalized Gifts and Custom Textiles #FMEGifts14

I am always looking out for sentimental and unique keepsake gifts to give my family at Christmas.   This year I think I have hit the jackpot with Lindsay Burck Designs.  Lindsay designs beautiful, one-of-a-kind custom textiles such as tea towels, tote bags and aprons.

One of her best selling items is the Custom Printed Kitchen Towels;  white flour sack towels which are then printed with your choice of design, a popular option is to have a hand-written recipe printed directly into the fabric of the towel.

My Grandmother passed away in a car accident before I was born but I have heard so much about her that it’s like I have known her my whole life and practically just as well as any other family member.  Her death left a big hole in our family felt even today, well over 30 years later and if I feel it you can pretty well bet that my own Mother, Auntie and Uncle feel it that much more.  As soon as I saw what Lindsay had to offer I saw the potential for an amazing gift in tribute to my Grandmother to give to my Mom, Auntie, and Uncle.

My mom has my Grandmothers collection of well loved and now slightly fading handwritten recipe cards.  The recipes are uniquely written and all are family recipes passed down from mother to daughter.  These are recipes that my Great-Grandmother carried with her to Canada from England when they immigrated in 1921.  They are special and definitely quirky – and seem to have been written only as reminders of quantities.

I chose two of the cleaner and better kept cards to have printed on the towels.   I never realized until looking closer at these but my mothers handwriting is so close to my grandmothers I think I would find it difficult to tell them apart.  Unfortunately that handwriting gene passed over me, my own tends to look more like a doctors and definitely not fit to appear on a tea towel anytime soon.

Ordering Custom Printed Kitchen Towels from Lindsay is so easy too. Just send a photo of the recipe(s) you want printed or you can even have your favourite recipe printed on the towels in your choice of typeface in the case of not having a handwritten recipe.  Lindsay is really fabulous to work with and is happy to answer any questions during the process.

When the tea towels arrived from Lindsay Burck Designs, I honestly couldn’t have been happier.  I almost cried over them, they are just perfect and gorgeous.   They com beautifully packaged but it’s the prints themselves that really stunned me.

Every single detail of the recipe card appeared on the towel, from the tiniest dots my grandmother made when writing down her notes to the small stains on the paper itself.

These towels are such a special tribute to my Grandmother that I know my family will love and appreciate.  What an amazing and special gift these towels make.  I cannot say enough good things about the finished towels or Lindsay Burck Designs.  I fully intend to order another set for myself as I will be giving the ones I have as gifts this year, and I definitely want my own in remembrance of my Grandmother.

Each towel measures 28×28 inches and is made of 100% cotton.   Each recipe image is printed directly into the fabric, allowing you to throw them in the wash (and even iron) as needed!
