Bummis Dimple Diaper #Giveaway

 Bummis Dimple Diaper

It’s been awhile since I last did a cloth diaper review.  I haven’t been avoiding it per say but I’ve definitely not gone out of my way to pursue any opportunities.  Partly because I have an obscenely large cloth diaper collection and partly because I haven’t been excited by an innovative cloth diaper in awhile.  There are only so many ways you can talk about your average pocket diaper.

When I was asked to review the new Bummis Dimple Diaper I knew after just a cursory look over that this was what I had been waiting for.  Something new and innovative.  I had to try it.

It is a One-size fitted cloth diaper that is being marketed as being “the perfect overnight solution”.  Note that it isn’t a full diapering solution and requires the use of a cover but it does fit well the different types of covers so there is no need to go out and buy a Bummis cover for it if  you already have a favourite cover in your collection.

The leg and back gussets are made with wide, comfy elastic that sits flat against the babys skin without digging in.  It also features adjustable rise snaps and cross-over waist tabs for a better fit.  This is important when you have two skinny mini’s like I do.   The snaps are also covered at the back so you don’t end up irritating your baby’s skin.

I love how generous the interior of the core is, you can see how easily this diaper would work with both infants and toddlers.  Indeed it is rated to fit between 10-30lbs so its a good solution from nearly birth to potty training.

The Dimple Diaper itself is made in Canada from soft organic American grown cotton and does include a custom double-sided booster.  The booster features a stay-dry side made from polyester with organic cotton on the the other side.  It is actually much easier to clean than microfibre terry and is also 100% natural fibre.

I love that the materials are all natural and grown in the USA.  There is no concern about chemical treatment of the fabric which is good to know considering how long these fabrics sit right up against your baby’s skin.

You can can also use the core alone without the booster during the day with a cover.  Personally though, once I find a good nighttime diaper I tend to reserve them for use at night so my diaper and booster have yet to be separated from one another.

I tried the Bummis dimple diaper on Ava first and was very happy with the fit and how it fit her, even with the booster in play.   For size reference she is just under 17 lbs.

The elastic, as you can see, sits perfectly against her skin with no gaping but also not digging in.

As for absorption, Ava sleeps from 6:30 pm to about 7 am and sometimes gets leaks from the diaper wicking into her PJs as she sleeps on her tummy.  This happens with disposable diapers and some of my cloth diapers so I have a collection of favourites that have given us leak free nights.  Let’s just say this diaper is joining them.  Easily.

With the booster out the dimple diaper still performs wonderfully and absorbs quite well.  I didn’t test it to see how long it would remain leak-free but it did go the usual 3-4 hours between daytime diaper changes without issue.

I love cloth diapers that wash up easily and there is nothing easier to wash than a fitted cloth diaper.  Simply throw it in the wash with your other cloth diapers and that is it.  There is no messing around with pulling inserts out of pockets or anything like that.  It’s so simple and so easy and never involves getting messy.

Speaking of laundry, I always dry my cloth diapers on my drying rack rather than in the dryer to help prolong their lives.  This usually results in rough and hard feeling inserts and diapers and me throwing them in the dryer for ten minutes.  Not so with the Bummis Dimple Diaper.  I was actually really surprised by how soft both the core and insert was once dry.

With just a quick adjustment to the rise they easily fit on little miss Keira, who is about 27 lbs and a little bit on the skinny side.  She is actually potty trained at this point during the day but she was happy to model the Bummis Dimple Diaper for me.

Again, the elastic sits nicely against her skin without digging in and without any gaping.  I love how extra trim this diaper is on her and it fits easily underneath our favourite cover.
