Spring Flower Cereal Treats

Spring Flower Cereal Treats

After a long, cold winter like the one we just experienced, I think we are all thrilled to say goodbye to snow storms, winter coats and to see flowers finally popping up in the garden.

Spring also tends to bring a lot of rainy days before the summer heat arrives meaning more time spent indoors with “nothing” to do.  Why not spend time together as a family creating memories while making food?

These Kellogg’s Rice Krispies treats are the perfect way to spend quality, creative time with your children in the kitchen.  Kids of all ages can create and decorate yummy treats.

Spring Flower Cereal Treats

Ingredients:

1/4 Cup Butter
250g Marshmallows
1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
6 Cups Rice Krispies Cereal
Prepared Icing
Coloured Sugar

Directions:

In a large microwave safe bowl, heat butter and marshmallows on high for  minutes, stirring after 2 minutes.  OR Melt butter in a large saucepan over low heat.  Add marshmallows and stir until completely melted.

Stir in rice krispies cereal until well coated.

Using lightly buttered spatula, press into buttered 13 x0″ pan.

Allow mixture to cool slightly.

Using a flower shaped cookie cutter, cut cereal mixture into flower shapes OR if you are like me and don’t have one… just freestyle with a knife!

Decorate with icing, coloured sugar and sprinkles.

You are so crafty! I completely expected you to have used a cutter or template of some kind, but I shouldn't be surprised to read that you just cut them out freestyle! They look great!
