The Pirate Fairy Blu-Ray Review & Free Printables!

The Pirate Fairy

From the world of “Peter Pan” comes “The Pirate Fairy,” a swashbuckling new adventure about Zarina (voice of Christina Hendricks), a smart and ambitious dust-keeper fairy who’s captivated by Blue Pixie Dust and its endless possibilities. When Zarina’s wild ideas get her into trouble, she flees Pixie Hollow and joins forces with the scheming pirates of Skull Rock, who make her captain of their ship. Tinker Bell (voice of Mae Whitman) and her friends must embark on an epic adventure to find Zarina, and together they go sword-to-sword with the band of pirates led by a cabin boy named James (voice of Tom Hiddleston), who’ll soon be known as Captain Hook himself. With laughter, heart, magic and thrills, “The Pirate Fairy” set sail April 1, 2014.

I ended up watching, (and really enjoying,) this direct to video blu-ray late at night with Keira.  She had woken up from a bad dream and I was missing her company so I treated her to a late night movie while she drank some warm milk and we cuddled up on the couch to watch it together.

I was pleased to find that Disney is on a roll with their direct to video releases.  While this isn’t quite the quality of  feature film like 2013’s Frozen, it is still full of heart, great production and a wonderful story that will engage viewers young and old.  The Disney Fairies series is actually quite good as a whole, even considering that it is an ongoing series.  It is full of lessons I am happy for my daughters to be learning but also filled with characters we really love.

The Pirate Fairy though, is one of my favourite yet from The Disney Fairies although Tinker Bell takes a bit of a backstage to Zarina.  Interestingly, we are given some insight into the world of Peter Pan with the origins of Captain James Bartholomew Hook and his arch nemesis – the Croc!

Miss K is feeling a little under the weather, I've managed to round up some crayons & markers as well as charging her ipod and kobo... now I have fun activities I can print off without googling for an hour lol..
