Welcoming a second baby with a Baby Sprinkle

As you may know from a couple of posts over the last week or two, I was approached by Canon Canada to check out the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 camera.  I was also asked if I had a memorable event coming up to capture with the Camera, and even have family and/or friends try out the Camera for themselves.   As I shared in my first post, I decided since I am due Baby #2 in mid-December, that I would hold myself a baby sprinkle and share the event with you all.  You can’t get much more memorable than that!

I had some great ideas for a themed “Baby Sprinkle” and spent the day before prepping everything.

I used the Canon EF 40mm f2.8 STM Lens on the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 to capture the following pictures.  This lens takes amazing pictures of food, I can’t believe how amazing these pics turned out just on the automatic setting.

Rice Krispie Cake Pops with Butter-cream icing and sprinkles?  I think so!  These were so easy to make, you just follow the general recipe for the treats and then form into balls.  Serving them in the rain-boots just fit the theme so well – too cute!

Look how amazing this camera makes the sprinkles look!  Have you ever seen better looking sprinkles?

Another fun idea is to make chocolate covered strawberries and sprinkle some sprinkles over them before the chocolate re-hardens.

Another simple idea are cupcakes with sprinkles!  Who doesn’t like cupcakes?  I used buttercream and blue food dye to keep with the general theme of rain (sprinkles).

I love how amazing this shot turned out thanks to the SL1.  Seriously, all I did was keep the camera on automatic and focused.  So easy and look how professional this picture looks!  Amazing!

So now on to the party!  For the actual party, I switched over to the 18-55mm IS STM Lens which is included with the SL1.

I managed to get this shot while Keira spent a rare moment posing for the camera.  Miracles DO happen!

I know you can’t see her face really, but I love the clarity of this shot!

One last pic by me… my brother and sister enjoying the treats!  With that I handed the camera over to my guests to try their hand.  No lessons, just asked them to play around with it and take pics!

Keira spent a good part of the party going from guest to guest begging for food off their plates.  What a naughty little girl! I believe the last three shots were taken in continuous shooting mode which lets you take a whole bunch of pictures at once so you always end up with at least one great shot!  This is great for getting shots of kids, pets and anything else moving.

I was actually really impressed with how great the pictures turned out while my family was playing around with the camera.  It just shows how easy the Canon EOS Rebel SL1 is to use.  Without having read manuals, take lessons, or spending any time learning how to use the camera they were able to get some pretty awesome shots.

It was pretty unanimous that this Camera takes great pics, is easy to use and everyone wanted to steal it off of me!  I think we have some future Canon Rebel SL1 owners in my family!  They were really impressed with the touch screen capability as well as the fact that it is able to shoot full HD video.

The Canon EOS Rebel SL1 seems like the perfect camera to start with thanks to the ease of use.  There is virtually no learning curve as far as being able to just pick it up and start shooting, but all the settings are still fully adjustable for those with more experience.  No matter what you are going to end up with some pretty impressive shots.
