Playskool – Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool Review

I recently posted my review of Playskool’s Poppin’ Park Learn ‘N Pop Lion which Keira just loved.  Now I would like to share our experience with Playskool’s Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool.

I have actually been looking for a good play table for Keira.  She is such a bright girl (I know, I know, all Mom’s think that of their children!) and I really wanted to find something that would be engaging at her current age and continue to help her learn and play for at least the next few years.  As you can imagine, I love to get the most out of my dollar, so both durability and extended usage are important.  I was really excited when I was sent the Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool to review.

The Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool is a musical activity table with more than 50 songs, sounds and activities geared towards children 6 months up to 3 years old.  It features digitally re-created music including The Jackson 5’s “ABC,” The Hit Co.’s “I Like to Move It,” Jennifer Lopez’s “On the Floor” and the Beatles “Twist and Shout”.

I recorded a video of Keira playing with the Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool for the first time.  Just as an explanation, she started to pull herself to a stand the day before we received it so she is pretty obsessed with trying to get up every chance she gets.

As you can see, she is absolutely enthralled by the Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool.  She does not get bored playing with it the way she does with most other toys and I find she can play for hours with it either alone or with me.  She also loves “singing” along at the top of her voice.  I think the video also demonstrates just how durable Playskool has built this toy!

It has the ability to lay on the floor for sit down play but can also easily turn into a table by attaching the legs for stand up play.  I found the legs were really easy to install and remove which is great for us as I can quickly change between modes depending on whether or not I can spend some time ready to catch her if she falls.

The Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool offers three modes of play – Music, Learning and French.

In music mode  she is able to “create” songs by pressing the three piano keys, spinning the guitar, pressing the three guitar buttons, “scratching” the record, or by tapping the drum.  Removing the microphone which doubles as a rattle starts up a song.  Each activity starts up a different tune for her to play.

In learning mode the various buttons teach letters, shapes, colours, and numbers.  “Scratching” the record teaches opposites.  In French mode all the fun is the same, except in French which is excellent for getting them exposed to our second language.

Right now everything she does while playing with the table is pretty random but she is pretty obsessed with spinning the guitar.  (So cute!) I can definitely see that the Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool is an excellent tool to help her explore cause and effect on top of everything else.

What I love most about Playskool’s Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool is that although it is a noise making toy it just doesn‘t get annoying to any adults present.  I know you parents know what I am talking about.  There is only so much honking and rattling one person can take!  Hearing familiar tunes play while she is busy spinning, pushing, and sliding the toys on the table is actually enjoyable.  Baby is happy and Mommy is happy… what a concept!

I would absolutely, without hesitation, recommend this toy which is why I have added it to my 2012 Holiday Gift Guide.  The Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool is one gift that will definitely entertain the little one in your life more the box it comes in and I dare say perhaps even more than the paper it gets wrapped in!

The Rocktivity Sit to Stand Music Skool is available at Toys R’ Us for only $59.99 (CAD) and in the November Brandsaver Coupon insert I found a $5 off coupon It is available in the USA as well featuring Spanish as the second language mode!

I was provided with the above mentioned products in order to facilitate my review, but as usual this is a personal blog and all thoughts and opinions expressed are honest and m own.

My kids had something similar growing up and they loved it. I'm sure you'll get tons of use out of it.
